5***** worm hotel complex Schönbrunn
2026

The world’s first "5-star worm hotel complex Schönbrunn" has a lot to offer its guests: The offerings range from certified healing clay treatments and a day spa to full-fledged five-star cuisine featuring traditional Bavarian delicacies. Next to the complex’s large earthen mound, visitors can study the comprehensive offerings on a map and get their bearings. With this humorous landscape sculpture, I want to encourage people to reflect on the relationship between us humans and our fellow living beings. Do we install insect—and earthworm—hotels in our gardens while simultaneously working on our perfect, picture-perfect lawns where ecological diversity is not welcome? To what extent do we truly show solidarity with our non-human fellow living beings? I hope that our actions will be shaped by an awareness of our mutual dependence and interconnectedness—which, of course, also applies to the relationships among us humans. This form of solidarity is not mere “lip service” but grows out of a lived practice of coexistence and respect.
About the Path of Values: Values provide guidance. They shape the way we interact, our actions, and our understanding of community. The Franziskuswerk has defined seven core values that guide and sustain us in our daily lives. Through the Schönbrunn Path of Values, we make these values visible and tangible. Along various stations, artistically designed installations invite visitors to pause, reflect, and engage with the central questions of our shared life.
Prof. Alexis Dworsky (Uni Linz) und Prof. Karl-Heinz Einberger (Hochschule Weihenstephan) begleiten unser Projekt kuratierend.
The 5-star worm hotel complex is part of the first phase and will open in Schönbrunn on October 27, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
